Moving Part 1

Posted in Apartment, Lolz at 1:56 pm by wangeli

I want to sum up how my moving has been going.

Atlanta to Memphis is a 7 hour drive… through all of Alabama and most of Mississippi.
I have a cat – an old cankerous cat that doesn’t like changes to her routine.
It was a 7 hour drive with a very unhappy cat.

Now I need drugs.

It’s Sock Time!

Posted in Lolz, Shopping at 8:36 pm by wangeli

There is nothing like a rainy spring day to make me think of socks… Actually it’s probably the fact that my toes are cold that has me thinking about socks… And I know, it’s closer to Summer than it is Winter. In fact, we’re running around in temperatures that some places would happily call Summer Weather and don shorts and tanks for. Not me, I’m dreaming of socks.

Thank God that Sock Dreams is always there for me. Here’s a little glimpse into my shopping cart. And yeah, there are some things on here that you’ve seen before. Those super cute Cuban-style stockings are my favorite accessory… I should just have a fresh pair mailed to me every week.

Do you see a theme here - besides black?

March Showers brings April Socks

Posted in Lolz, Shopping at 6:09 pm by wangeli

There’s nothing like a weather shift to make me thing about buying new clothes. And there is something about Spring in the South that makes you wish you could carry your entire wardrobe in your pocket. Wet in the morning, Hot in the afternoons and by the time I get off from work – it’s back to almost winter cold. My solution has been to wear skirts and socks. At lunch time, the socks come off. When I’m tromping home from work, they go right back on.

And a few weeks of wearing the same socks has me itching to buy a few new pairs. So here’s a review of what’s in my sock drawer and what I’ve got my eye on. Thanks SockDreams for fueling my spring look.

My latest obsession – Zippers

Posted in Crafty Liz, Lolz at 3:15 pm by wangeli

The fabric store by my house is having a huge sale, which is amazing. And well timed, since I (thanks to craftgawker) found out that you can use zippers as headbands. I haven’t entirely figured out how that’s suppose to work, but I bought a bunch of zippers anyways. And I’ll be super honest, it might not look right, but I’m happy that I’m trying.

Yippee, Zipper Hair!

The last of us… leaving LA – Part 3

Posted in Lolz, Places I've Been, Vacation at 2:22 pm by wangeli

All good things must come to an end. And vacations even more so! So this is the last post about my LA trip. And probably the last regularly schedule post you’ll get for a while. Just setting expectations…

The great thing about being kooky and not afraid to show it, is that you’re not embarrassed to do something weird. To just run around and be silly. To wear unmatched monster socks. Dear readers, maturity is overrated if it means being boring. Be true to that inner child. Go out and take a swing break. Lay in the grass and count clouds. Get your friends together and play hide and go seek. And try doing it all without the excuse of alcohol. If you know me, you know I’m always up for some silliness!

Well our last day in LA was a great opportunity to just be silly. Without feeling self-conscious. It probably helped that we were in parts of town that were a little off the beaten path. And it was a Monday. So we carped us some diem, seizing the opportunity to be, well ourselves. I’m happy we did it – mostly because I hate Hate HATE missed opportunities.

Fortune favors the Bold!

A little of Us and LA – Part 2

Posted in Lolz, Places I've Been, Vacation at 3:11 pm by wangeli

Okay so here are more pictures of us at the beach. It’s a different beach, but at the end of the day it’s still girls + sand and sun… And what else can I say about it?

Now imagine us in Los Angeles – Part 1

Posted in Lolz, Places I've Been, Vacation at 8:36 pm by wangeli

You’ve seen where we’ve been. And you probably figured out what we were up to. But here are few hundred shots of us being us.

Let’s start off with some beach time. We were cute, we had just unpacked. And we were holding steady with 2 or 3 coffee drinks a day. Of course, we had just gotten off a plane. And we are still us. So there’s a lot of running around and being camera happy tourists. But Hey, we ARE the ritalin generation.

The Far East (Part 2)

Posted in Lolz, Places I've Been, Vacation at 3:49 pm by wangeli

We ended ethnic explorations in Chinatown. It was a great opportunity to not visit galleries, eat Chinese food and buy a ridiculous amounts of tiny keepsakes. It’s like all of the stores in Chinatown were made with us in mind, filled with a completely random variety of shiny things. We wandered around, nibbled on baos and spend tons of money. I’m still wracking my brains trying to figure what movies were filmed there, but it was pretty exciting to wander around for a few hours.

Wait – there was more…

Posted in Lolz, Places I've Been, Vacation at 2:31 pm by wangeli

Here’s a handful of the other places that we went to while we were in LA. In a thousand words or less… with the mention of the best Ice Cream sandwich I have EVER had. And if you know me, you know – I’ve had quite a few ice cream sandwiches (but that’s not saying that enough is enough. It’s ice cream… there’s no such thing as enough.)

If I haven’t mentioned it a few (thousand) times before, we spent a lot of time driving around. It’s LA, judging by the traffic – that’s what you do. I’m super super happy we rented a car, so we were tearing it up all over the city in our friends car. Well the upside of all of the driving is that LA has some super cool signs. And yeah, I’m going to take pictures of them. Hello – awesome billboards makes me a happy advertiser.

Oh yeah and then there was the ice cream. Okay, we totally played our hipster card and went to a still unknown ice cream shop that had Just Opened! Yeah, we’re those kind of people. And it was amazing. There was fun wall art, balloons, Mexican cokes and bourbon flavored ice cream. So instead of eating the sensible dinner of grown up people, we had ice cream sandwiches and felt like we were the coolest non-adults ever. (We are, btw). Yeah I know – you so wish you could be me.

We also went to a super cute restaurant called Tart. We were super excited to eat there because the sign was super cute, they had jello shots (okay maybe that was just me) and they had great Southern food… I’m not entirely sure why we went out to LA and proceeded to eat nothing but the food we can get anywhere here in Atlanta, but hey – it is what it is. And, because we are easily amused, we loved their sign which declares that “cooking is the oldest profession” and that their menu challenges you to wear overalls and jump in the Farmer’s Daughter’s pool. I was totally up for doing it…. but that might have just been the jello shots talking.

And speaking of things that don’t make any sense – we woke up early (okay not so early) to go to Target and try to hit up the Jason Wu racks. Boy, we were so lucky that Stacey knew of a secret Target that still had a few items from the Jason Wu line. But apparently, these must-have items were on a serious security watch – we weren’t allowed to take them into the dressing room to try them on. So yeah, traveled to the other side of the country to buy Target clothes.

The Far East – LA Style (Part 1)

Posted in Lolz, Places I've Been, Vacation at 3:24 pm by wangeli

There were two places I was most excited to go to in LA – Little Tokyo and Chinatown. I was mostly excited because there were some super progressive art galleries in these area. I wanted to go and pretend to be sophisticated and artistically deep. Of course we were in that part of town on a Monday, the universal day of rest for arts, museums and theaters. Oh well… guess I’m just stuck appreciating local artists. 😉

Despite the lack of agenda, we found plenty of things to do in Little Tokyo. Besides just being amazing to walk around and look at, there were tons of shops selling everything. And crazy amazing coffee shop. Oh yeah (and the most exciting thing for me) tasty and cheap sushi!
